Up Close

up close

I notice so much more when I get up close and really stop to look.

From further away, this is just another yellow flower – one among many in the garden.

As I look closer, however, I see a porcupine. And the pale green of young, developing shoots huddled together in a protected cluster. The petals reach out, arms wide to revel in the warmth of the sun.

If I look closer at my children, what will I see?
